How GHRH peptides work

From your first injection to full systemic benefits — here's exactly what happens inside your body at each stage of the process.

01

Peptide injection

A simple, painless subcutaneous injection—a short daily routine that takes seconds.

02

Pituitary activation

The peptide signals your pituitary gland—the master regulator of hormones—to release growth hormone in natural pulses.

03

GH → IGF-1 conversion

Growth hormone travels to your liver and triggers the production of IGF-1 (insulin-like growth factor), the molecule responsible for most of GH’s downstream benefits.

04

Systemic benefits

Elevated IGF-1 drives fat metabolism, accelerates tissue repair, improves skin and hair quality, enhances sleep architecture, and supports overall vitality.

GHRH Peptides vs. Synthetic Growth Hormone

Synthetic growth hormone floods your system with a constant, unregulated dose. It bypasses your body’s feedback mechanisms, which is why it carries greater risks of insulin resistance, joint pain, and soft issue overgrowth.

GHRH peptides take a fundamentally different approach. Secretagogues like Ser-morelin and Tesa-morelin stimulate your pituitary to produce more GH on its own terms. Your body’s negative feedback loop stays intact—meaning production self-regulates. You get the benefits of elevated GH without overriding your natural safety systems.

I’ve been on Sermorelin for about 3 months now and the sleep improvement alone was worth it. I’m falling asleep faster, sleeping deeper, and waking up without an alarm feeling actually rested. My recovery from workouts has noticeably improved too.

The whole process was incredibly easy. Doctor reviewed my info within a day, and my protocol arrived at my door less than a week later. I’m about 6 weeks in and already seeing changes in body composition. My wife even noticed my skin looks better.

As someone in my mid-40s, I was skeptical. But four months in, my energy levels are consistently higher, the stubborn belly fat is finally responding, and I’m recovering from gym sessions like I did a decade ago. The Maximus team made the entire experience seamless.

Growth Hormone Releasing Hormone (GHRH) Peptides FAQs

What are growth hormone peptides and how do they work?

Growth hormone peptides (also called secretagogues) are compounds that signal your pituitary gland to produce more of its own growth hormone naturally. Unlike exogenous growth hormone, which bypasses your body’s feedback systems, the GH peptides offered by Maximus work with your biology—stimulating natural GH pulsing while maintaining the safety mechanisms your body relies on.

How long until I see results?

Most patients notice improved sleep quality within the first 2–4 weeks. Nail growth is typically the earliest visible sign of elevated GH, often appearing within a month. Body composition changes, skin improvements, and recovery benefits generally become apparent between months 2 and 3. Our medical team recommends a minimum 3-month protocol for meaningful aesthetic and metabolic results.

Are there side effects?

Growth hormone peptides have a favorable side effect profile compared to exogenous GH. Some patients experience mild injection-site reactions, temporary water retention, or tingling in the first few weeks—these typically resolve as your body adjusts. Because peptides work through your body’s natural feedback loops, the risk of serious side effects is significantly lower than with synthetic growth hormone.

Do I need a prescription?

Yes. All Maximus growth hormone peptides are prescription medications. When you complete your online evaluation, a licensed physician reviews your health profile and determines if you’re a good candidate. If approved, your prescription is sent to a licensed compounding pharmacy and shipped directly to you. The entire process is done online—no in-person appointments required.

How do I administer the injection?

Growth hormone peptides are administered via simple subcutaneous injection—a small needle injected just under the skin. We recommend the upper outer thigh. Most patients describe it as virtually painless. The injection takes seconds and is done at home, ideally before bedtime to align with your body’s natural nighttime GH release cycle. Detailed instructions and support are provided with your protocol.
